The Unseen Struggles of My Mum: A Tribute to Her Strength and Resilience
Growing up, my mum was the heart and soul of our family. She was always there, tirelessly working from dawn to dusk, ensuring that everything was in place—not just for her own children but for her , and I know this will upset many who she was amazing too, just don’t forget she wasn’t amazing to us and as much as you don’t want to see or hear it! The truth is the truth and we are all tired. Mahadev teaches us our karma is the truth so here is the truth. This applies to my extended family as well. My grandmother-in-law(baa) , along with the majority of her children (not her sons because they became our saviours), placed the weight of the world on my mum’s shoulders. She was expected to be available 24/7, serving everyone with no questions asked, and no one ever considered the toll this took on her.
For years, my mum’s life revolved around others. She never complained, never asked for anything in return, and never questioned why she was treated more like a servant than a family member. Her own children—my siblings and I—were often treated as second-class citizens in our own home. We received hand-me-downs and leftovers, as if that was something to be proud of. It was as if we were being taught to accept less, to be grateful for the scraps, while everyone else enjoyed the fruits of her labor.
The saddest part is that we were alienated from our Dada’s side of the family, a side that we now know is filled with love and respect for us. It took time, but as we grew older, we began to see the truth. We reconnected with our Dada’s family, and our dad’s paternal side, and realized what true love and respect felt like. They welcomed us with open arms, and we built beautiful relationships that we cherish deeply today. Through them, we saw how different our lives could have been, how much we had been missing out on, and how much we were truly loved.
Looking back, I see my mum as a hero. Despite the endless demands, the lack of appreciation, and the way her own children were marginalized, she carried herself with grace and resilience. She protected us in ways we didn’t understand at the time, ensuring that we always had a sense of family, even if it wasn’t perfect. Now that we’ve experienced the love and kindness from our Dada’s side, we have a fuller understanding of what family should be.
This blog post is a tribute to my mum, a woman who gave everything she had, even when she got nothing in return. She taught us the value of hard work, the importance of family, and the strength to persevere even in the face of adversity. And while we may have been mistreated by some, we’ve also found love and acceptance from others who truly matter.
Mum, your sacrifices haven’t gone unnoticed. We see you, we appreciate you, and we love you more than words can express. We will continue to honor you by building the kind of family that you deserve—a family that loves, respects, and supports one another, just like our Dada’s family has shown us. Thank you for being our rock, our inspiration, and our guide through the toughest times.

What a beautiful testimony of love & resilience. The hardships we face help us to become like pure refined precious stones. God is always our strength and shield – He will bless us always.
Thank you for sharing & caring.
